The boiling point of ammonia is a chilly -33.5ºC. Moreover, it can be solidified into a snow-like solid at a melting point of -77.75ºC. Ammonia exhibits excellent solubility in water, ethanol, and ether. Under high temperatures, it decomposes into nitrogen and hydrogen, showcasing a reducing effect. Additionally, it can be catalytically oxidized to produce nitric oxide. Its applications are wide-ranging and include the production of liquid nitrogen, ammonia water, nitric acid, ammonium salts, and a variety of amines, underscoring its critical role in multiple industrial processes.
