Its solubility in water, ethanol, and ether enhances its utility. Furthermore, ammonia decomposes into nitrogen and hydrogen at elevated temperatures, revealing its reductive prowess, and can oxidize to form nitric oxide when catalyzed. These characteristics enable ammonia to serve as a precursor in the synthesis of crucial compounds like liquid nitrogen, ammonia water, nitric acid, ammonium salts, and various amines.
